Crab du Jour has finally began work on the old Chili's. They've repainted the exterior, havee a dumpster outside and it looks like they've replaced the windows.
Tropical Grille now has a coming soon sign at the former JL Topper's on Woodruff.
And now there is Crab D Licious going into the building beside the old Raffertys on Congaree. Why the sudden boom for crab restaurants? The survival rate has to be low.
These have been in Charlotte for years. This one in particular has been around since at least 2014 and I have been there once. The seafood was obviously frozen and the quality wasn't that good, especially for the price, so I never went back. It is interesting that they are finally showing up here.
"The developer said the Cuban-inspired restaurant should open by early 2020, followed by the opening of Spartanburg’s second Tropical Grille on Pine Street."

i've been trying to guess what it is for weeks... it almost had the look of a chick-fil-a. could see what looked like drive-thru windows. oh well, this sounds healthier anyway.
Speaking of the flourishing crab restaurant trend, what's up with Crabby's Cajun Juicy Seafood Boil in the former Haywood Grill location on Woods Crossing? Signs went up, and then the countdown timer on the web site reached zero several weeks ago, remaining there ever since. However, the doors have not opened to customers, brown paper still covers the windows, and an "AVAILABLE" sign remains posted on the front door.
Has anyone tried their bagels yet?? Someone said they were wonderful. I'll have to find out for myself but would love others opinions. Seems they just opened.

Since Bruegger's closed all Upstate SC locations, I've missed made-from-scratch bagels (Greenfield's does NOT make their bagels on-site - they are all frozen - IMO mediocre bagels at best)

Friends of mine are going there today so I will hear from them their review of it. Someone I know sent me a post of some type of someone else who tried their bagels and raved about the whole place but who knows if that's a true review...I want to hear from my horse friends own mouth.

They posted on their FB page looking for FOH employees about an hour ago. So, looks like things are progressing, albeit slower than expected, I would guess.
