As someone else posted on C-D recently, there is a difference between opinion and educated opinion. Anyone can have an opinion but when the reasoning behind the opinion is faulty, and those with educated, experienced opinions counter it, then maybe, just maybe, the less educated/experienced opinion should be examined and changed.
I don't have to post a link on anything. I've been studying and reading this info for years and I'm not like at least one here who posts link after link after link and I'd bet they are never opened.
We are not expected to post any facts if we choose not too. I could be posting all day. Not up for that and again who cares.
Anyone can offer some info to the OP.

One can go crazy IF they listened to everyone's answer to this and that. Get with a GOOD integrative MD I would think and tackle 1-2 things at a time. I use oils as all I've read are pretty positive. There are good and bad oils, do research there. Our brain needs good fats/oils. Bill ate a lot of crap too.
I agree with this. I work in the medical field, and there are dozens of possibilities. There is no way to know without medical tests. You'll go crazy trying to chase down ideas and possible solutions.
Integrative medicine docs are great. They look at the whole person, as opposed to just one area (like specialists do). Most don't take insurance, because their appointments are 1-2 hours each, to give them time to be complete. KU Med Center has an integrative MD unit, and there are many working in the area.
Try to keep your spirits up. Complicated health situations are rarely diagnosed or fixed quickly, so patience is really needed. If you don't feel you are getting good care from one doctor, go to another.
Also, Turning Point is an organization out of KU Med for people with chronic illnesses. They have support groups, exercise and education classes, as well as social events. They are a great resource if you feel like you need support, or just want to talk with someone who understands what you are going through. I have lots of clients that go there and have been very glad they did. Try to get as much support as you can. Make sure you have a life outside your health, in whatever way feels good to you.

What is KU Med? When I first started with integrative MD's about 15 yrs ago, we got about an hour and especially the first visit. Today on my annual trips to my IM, I'm lucky to get 30 minutes. Mine does take Medicare but no insurance for others. Interesting I say.
I hope you'll come back and offer more good comments.
Get a second or third opinion regarding the thyroid, I think they should check to make sure you don't have Grave's disease. You need to have full blood work done, they shouldn't just be going off your symptoms. I've experienced symptoms that were completely the opposite to my medical problems.
I don't understand why I sleep for 12 hours sometimes and when I wake up, I just want to lay in bed and mope. I have to force myself to get up out of bed and when I get to work, I've been drinking 2 cups of coffee just to boost my mood so I can talk to people. I have no motivation and I get stressed out quite easily, even by a text message or meeting friends. I get stressed about running around and usually arrive late. I just want to do nothing and lay in bed.
I was feeling a lot like this a few years ago and it turned out to be vitamin D deficiency and anemia.
If you continue to feel bad go back to the Doc and insist you need more tests.
Another thing is if the Psych give you anti-depressants and they don't do anything for you it is probably not a Psych issue.
Before taking any Psych meds I would go back to the Doc first and ask for more tests.
I have to say I take daily anti-depressants and I am an anti-med person in general. I realize for me it truly is a biological, chemical thing. I tried everything you can thin of that was natural before making the decision to get on anti-depressants and have tried getting off 3 times and had relapses so if it turns out you need to be on them-ok great it can make your life really whole.
However the side effects while geting on them can be a ***** and cause a few people to have suicidal urges, so if this were to happen, got a trusted friend or relative till the mood passes. I have that about 4 times in 20 years and it passed within and hour. Because of the risk of side effects, before taking any Psych meds I would go back to the Doc first and ask for more tests.
Unlikely but brain tumors, usually non cancerous can cause lethargy. Thyroid issues can also cause issues as you mentioned. Some folks say you have to got to more progressive Thyroid docs who do more refined testing to get accurate tests results because the old school docs use a rating scale that misses a significant number of people who have thyroid issues. I just popped my head into a co-workers office that has thyroid and other issues and she recs an Endocrinologist over other Docs for thyroid issues.
Also the 5-HTP possibly is ok but maybe not, def tell the Psych because that and other supplements does interfere with Psych meds. I had panic attacks from St. Johns Wort because it heightens anxiety but for people with classic depression with no anxiety component, it has helped. I heard of one woman, a wife of a man I worked with many years ago and that was all she took and for her it did the trick.
Best of luck to you for a happy, healthy future. I know how discouraging it can be to feel bad. When I have had those times I have a saying I say to myself over and over to help myself(silently), usually it is "I will feel better", "I will feel better".
Stop the 5htp first.
Second get a paper copy of your thyroid panels. Begin looking a your TSH levels. See an Endocrinologist right away, before you delve into the therapy and psych meds route.
School yourself on thyroid problems and get to the bottom of that before dumping other meds into your body. Psych meds may not be necessary once it's determined your thyroid is functioning optimally.
