Today I'm patching a hole in the H's jeans and one in one of my two remaining tissue tees. Then I'm sewing a clasp onto a beaded snake necklace I'm going to wear to work on Halloween. Not high art by any means, but the extent of my crafting this week.
In the past I have done a couple of free hand needlepoint/peti-point portraits. I did some embroidery and made one hooked rug and one braided rug. I have also made Costumes.
I used to collect old sewing machines and I still have many of them, Had 39 at one point. Now I have arthritis and fibromyalgia along with several other medical problems and I don't do any of it anymore.

Don’t you hate it when the body starts giving out? For me, it was counted cross stitch. I had to give it up because I couldn’t see well enough anymore. I find other things to do, like knitting.
Speaking of costumes here's a tip if anyone is short of cash and needs a large amount of fabric to accomplish what you have in mind.
Our dollar store sells large plastic tablecloths, both round and rectangular in many colors for a dollar. I've been working with them to make a witch and ghost circle for the yard and think they'd be suitable for simple sewing projects.

I just recently made some huge pillows for my daybed, to make it more like a couch. I got a couple of really pretty Indian bedspreads at a rummage sale for a total of $6 - total score. One of them is a patchwork quilt with elephants and monkeys, etc. So nice. I made large pillows as arm rests and a back rest for the daybed. And a couple of throw pillows.
I know how to sew, but have never really enjoyed it. But, if I can't find pillows or drapes, etc., that I like - or for a price I like, or that will fit the design in my head - I will drag out the machine.
Since I had the machine out, I also repaired a bunch of things that needed it, including the seat covers for my truck, that had come apart at seams at a couple of places, and repaired the strap of a purse, and the lining of a purse, and various other things that have been waiting for me to drag the machine out.
I'm glad I have the skill and my machine, but I would never claim to actually enjoy the tediousness of the stitching. I do enjoy the planning of a project, like figuring out how to use a bedspread with a border, to turn it into pillows using the border in the pillow designs, etc. Basically, I enjoy the decorating aspect - but not the tediousness of the stitching.
But, I'm grateful that my mom taught me all of this, including the art of design and construction and stitching, etc.
I think I mentioned in this thread that I had been trying to make a hairpiece out of my old saved hair. Well, I've given up on that project after devoting many hours of reading and getting advice. Part of my problem was that I have since started having my hair foiled and the old hair had been treated with something that made it come out orange when my stylist tried to streak it.
That pretty much put the lid on the project. So the hair, which I have already wefted will go to a woman nearby who makes pieces for people who have been ill. And the even more long term project for me is growing out my hair long enough to cut one last long swath to use. I may expire before I accomplish this!
That's a pretty impressive Halloween decoration for the price.
As for the hair, I don't know what it looks like wefted, but is it possible for your colorist to color it (or any hair, now that I'm asking) off your head? It's so interesting. I've never heard of anyone doing that before.
