I've been in baseball playoff mode so haven't watched a ton of hockey yet but I've noticed that there seems to be more fighting this year. Is this because I've only seen a limited amount of games or are fights up this year? I personally enjoy fighting as it is a big part of the game. It's odd as I hate real life violence but understand that fighting is a big part of the psychology of the game. I know that may seem stupid but just love some good hockey fights
Flyers playing well when it seemed like they wouldn't win a game all season. Uh oh.......Edmonton just scored again as I was typing this
Brodeur going down could really crush my one fantasy hockey team. I hope it's not a serious injury
Mike Smith has the best (okay, the 2nd best after last night) save percentage in the league in Tampa, Anti Meittinen is 2nd on the Wild in scoring, and Sergei Zubov sits on the shelf while the Dallas Stars seem to be a team without a "klugh". It was painful to watch the Bruins-Stars game last night, even though they are two of my favorite teams. It looked more like the "Broadstreet Bullies" from many years ago. I am not a real fan of the fighting to begin with but do understand the reasons for it, but a lot of that was either miscalculated, late, or trying to save face, not really for "protective" measures. (Yes, I do remember the 400 penalty minute game between these two teams when the Stars were in Minnesota).
Speaking of bullies, the Flyers look a lot like the Stars in that they both can score, but they have lost the ability to play a lot of defense. I would like to think both ships will right themselves and soon!
Boston continues to play just well enough to either win or get the one point. Tim Thomas seems to have stepped forward and has the early hot hand in goal. Someone mentioned the addition of Michael Ryder and I have to agree after watching him the last couple of games.
What a frigging bummer that arguably the best goalie in the history of the NHL, Martin Brodeur, got that freak elbow/biceps injury and will be out 3-4 months.
