I have had the same dishes for at least 20 years. Blue and white Blue Willow. I mix it with white ironstone. It’s classic and available, and when I needed to replace a few pieces it was easily done. Now I’m needing some replacements and I’ve decided to switch to something new.
I saw a pattern I like in the latest Home Decorators catalog and unless I find something I like more, I’ll ask Santa for it. Of course, I’ll want to see it and feel it in person first. Some China looks and feels cheap.
If you could throw out all your old dishes and start fresh, what would you pick?
*hides precious dishes*
I've got a dish thing. Certainly. Collecting certain classic Pfaltzgraff patterns, certain Fiestaware onesie-twosies, vintage Corelle, restaurantware, I could go on.
You can't make me throw out my old dishes!
But if I wanted to add to my enormous collection, it would be something matte and in the color family of toast and cream.
Uh-huh ... I'm a dish hoarder. You know what a pain it is to move 10 sets of dinnerware? LOL
Here's my weirdo dish quirk: I don't like the look of food on a plate with big decals or splashy prints, or on black or other dark plates. Black plates are so elegant, but only before food is placed on them.

I get why this would bother people, but Ive never had anyone complain about the food because their plate is just too busy. My blue willow is very busy.
However, I’ve seen some very attractive plates with bugs and frogs, etc. on them. I wouldn’t like that.
