Or, possibly, I have a legitimate viewpoint that disagrees with yours...
Keep telling yourself that. I'm sincerely glad you do not walk your dog in my neighborhood.
As to the poster who can't be bothered to carry dog poop for 60 minutes...I have been know to carry my dog's poop for 2 hours. It can be done. It was not a hardship. In fact, I don't even think about it. It's in bag, secured on the leash.
I love my neighborhood more and more every day. I am really glad I have CONSIDERATE neighbors and dog walkers in my neighborhood.
Once a week, on garbage pick-up day, I allow myself to put the poop bag in a neighbor's garbage can -- if it's in the morning, and the trash hasn't been picked up yet. Otherwise, no, I would never put it in an empty trashcan. Some people keep their trashcans in the garage, and during the summer -- whoooweee! Not so bad during the winter, but still . . .
The rest of the time, I just tie it to the leash and bring it home. No big deal.
Guilty. It's always bagged up and twisted shut, but guilty. I guess I'll have to limit myself to trash pickup day, when the cans are out, but not yet emptied. I hate having to have one hand on the leash, one hand on the bag. But I hadn't realized how much it might upset people - I just figured that sealed up garbage is sealed up garbage. Lesson learned.
Exactly. But I would confront the person immediately.
There is no excuse for this. The trash cans are not theirs. They were purchased by the homeowners and, in the case of waste company totes, leased by homeowners for a charge. The audacity of some people never ceases to amaze me.
Everyone walking a dog should be prepared to pick up their dog's poop; we are. Carry a damn bag, take it home with you, and put it in your own dang trash.
Like many dog owners, we don't even put our dog's doo in the totes--we put out a 13-gallon bag for that. We choose not to stink up our tote and garage with our own dog's krapola--we sure don't want your dog's.
And at least here, when the trash can is on the owner's property, it's trespassing to dump something into it, and when it's on the sidewalk like for pickup -- it's the city's property, and is trespassing to dump something into it.
That being said -- picked up and wrapped poo doesn't bother me in the least.
I doubt that people are even thinking they are doing anything wrong. They haven't thought it through. It's too bad they pick your trash can. I guess a sign would help, or maybe use a strong twist tie to anchor the lid to the can ... just provide enough resistance to them lifting it might work.
But I have a neighbor whose dogs come poop in my yard. Frequently.
In comparison, I'd rather have poop in my trash can.
We have a LOT OF (SMALL) DOGS in this area. Lots. And our lawn is the best; I have my game cam out there and am going to post the little sh...ter at the Post Office. We love animals, but stepping in dog poop just isn't the same as the old days.
