For starters, there is no 'injured party', there is no perpetrator. A guy is flying a drone around a neighborhood. That's not against any law.
You think you can shoot it down anonymously? And that shooting it down is not going to get you in a lot of trouble, Really?
Shaking my head.
"Injured party of a nuisance" is a very legit term. In law "injury" is not limited to physical injury. It is a much broader concept.
If I shoot down anonymously a $ 1000 or whatever drone that the ******* bought on Amazon, you think PD will bring on the ballistic consultant?
Come to think of it, I'd have to be a very irresponsible person to fly my drone over your yard. Even if you gave a damage waiver, let alone begging. What if my drone malfunctions and kills your husband? Your attorney will take everything I own, plus I will be working for the rest of my life for your 3 kids, and they will own every penny I make.
This is an hypothetical scenario of course, and not for you, per se, however is very plausable, and I see every day.
Last week one of our injured workers filed a lawsuit. His wife followed with another lawsuit. The worker got a small injury and worked the next day. Now he is suing for millions.
You think flying a drone is appealing? Think again.
Your neighbor's not normal either. No argument there.
I'm just stunned that so many think shooting the thing out of the sky is a perfectly rational decision, but talking to the guy flying it is crazy or likely to cause conflict.
That's a little messed up.
I never saw our street as an overly friendly place, but we evidently are unusual.
Fair enough. The whole reason for this thread was to see if this issue is as polarized for our CD members as it is in our neighborhood. Half don't care, the other half very much mind. I'm kind of ambivalent about it but it really bothers my husband. So does opinion fall on male/female gender lines? Political lines? I'm not sure. It's really fascinating.
As far as if my neighborhood is friendly or not, I guess that's for another post but I'm cool with us just agreeing to disagree.

and I also am.........."Shaking my head".. in disbelief that a Real Estate Agent thinks flying a drone around the neighborhood is no cause for concern.
A Real Estate Agent! Really!? Would it change something if I was an Electrician or a School Teacher?
Actually, I understand there are reasonable concerns about drones. Concerns that we will likely be debating for some time as we adjust to this new technology.
I just don't think shooting them down as a wise response to your concerns. It's actually a tad unhinged. Hopefully, it's all just internet bluster, or I'm predicting legal trouble for some on this thread.

How exactly are you going to "anonymously" shoot down the drone while he is watching it hover over your property?
And speaking of lawsuits, when you miss and the bullet hits a kid two blocks away you're going to be sued for everything you own as well. And even if you hit the drone it may not drop like a rock but fly out of control for some distance before crashing into and killing that kid.
It's rather ironic to see people rant about the "risk" of a drone crashing and hurting someone while they plan to deliberately make it crash, as well as ignoring the risk of firing into the air in a populated area.

I am actually a very responsible person. No arrests, no record, except of course several parking tickets, and one moving violation several years ago (not speeding). Proud father of two, my 19 yr old NYC daughter thinks I am the best dad. Graduate degree. Son of another graduate. Paying my daughter college, full boat. So, I am very hinged. I say "shoot it down". No one yet here has given a logical response on why shouldn't I.
I, have on the other hand given several reasons why someone should.

Very good points. Now its a different discussion, isnt it?
Not going through this again with you Henry... Been lots of good reasons given here, why shooting it down is an over-reaction without justification. I don't think it would be fun to go through it all again... And this is my free time.
No, two can play that game. Buy a better one outfitted with a camera and fly it to his bedroom window. WIFI it to your big screen in the backyard and have a big BBQ when you do it.
The cops will come but they would want the video for evidence!
