How do you know where anyone have lived or traveled? Did you do a survey?

And for the record, I for one do not hate California, just people who moved here just because they thought it was cheap and decide to whine when it wasn't as cheap as they hoped for. Then they find the need to say everything is better where they were. Then go back! Nobody's holding you hostage.

I wonder why you just wonder.

But because they all moved last month, something tells me the hot and humid summer had something to do with it. I know the humidity is getting to me this summer.

Just wondering how the ex-Californians are doing.
David,

We were X CA when we moved to Dallas as well as several other couples we know. Yes, we have left and our daughter and son in law will as well when they retire, but our reasons and thiers are for a much lower cost of living for starters. The heat and humidity did play a part. I will add, we stayed 13 years, our kids have been there 24 and one of our 2 grandduaghters would go back in a second regardless of the heat. None of us plan on returning to Ca to live. This isn't meant to blast Ca, it is just not the place we choose to live anymore.

For anyone to say, they left because of taxes and returned to Ca is kidding themselves. yes, property taxes are outragious, but they paid no state income tax, gas is cheaper, food is generally less (I say generally) Now, these friends you are talking about will need to buy homes in CA and with the tax structure there I am sure the property tax will be very close to that in Texas. I think your co-workers had other reasons for returning to Californisa. No place is right for everyone..

My guess is, more people who leave Ca for Texas stay in Texas than return.

I think they returned to the state of California, not a city in Columbia. That is where Cali is...

No survey only read the forums and have learned that a lot of folkes who have never lived in either Texas or California have some pretty distorted views of both places. Just talk to people as well you can learn a lot! I have yet to find but 2 people in California that have lived in Texas. Everyone else that learns that I am from Texas has a lot of strange and distorted information about Texas. Out of my 43 years in Texas I met a lot of people that had strange concepts about California but had never even lived there. I guess that is what I am basing my comment on plus what I have read on the forums.

And then there are people who base their knowledge of Texas on having watched reruns of "Dallas." It works both ways.

Yes that is true and I think we are making the same point.

You would not believe the fear I was being fed by some Texans when they learned I was moving here. Even some very close friends of mine. Not one thing was true. Now they can't wait to visit! I almost backed out of moving for the fear factors I kept hearing about California. I am a risk taker and I knew I could always return to Houston if it did not work out. So far is has worked out much better then my anticipation.

Anyway Peace Out Everyone!

It's too late to change the wording.

Apologies to the natives.

Don't complain about moving to Texas. Might want to complain to your own news stations for their suggestions:
