You should read up on Texas history. Texas has historically been a blue state and only turned red around Reagan. With all the transplants from all over, it is turning purple and will be blue soon. Oh, and Rick Perry didn't need the liberals from California's help to put Texas in a big budget deficit. Your concern is not really a concern.

Do you mean blue as in democrat or blue as in liberal? Texas may have been a democratic state at one time, just as a lot of southern states were. But Texas has never been a liberal state.

Home prices inside the loop are getting more and more unaffordable. Demand for these homes are on the rise and the cost is still considered cheap for folks coming out of California / East Coast and comparing prices there and here.
You think it's bad here? You should see how Austin's changed, and it was obviously much less-equipped to deal with a rapidly expanding population. And they just keep coming...

I'm glad for the boom. Maybe it will be the catalyst to finally get some up-to-date infrastructure going around here, i.e.: decent public transportation, amusement park(s), more entertainment venues, etc. etc. You know, the stuff that other real cities have that we are sorely lacking. Bringing people here with a good economy is one thing but getting them to stay is quite another.

Funny, Texas has no "big budget deficit". There is an amendment in the Texas constitution that prevents us from running one.

I still voted for White though, Perry is crazy tea bagger.

I just miss the days when Houston was a small town big city. Is it just me?
Just curious - were you born here?

First of all Perry is no conservative and is certainly not endorsed by most Tea Party members. I held my nose and voted for him.

Second, not that you probably care, but I find the term tea bagger highly offensive. I might think that some liberals/socialists are anus lickers but I don't call them that in public. Besides, considering how normal you lefties think fecal sex is - why would you use that as a pejorative term - unless perhaps you really are a closet homophobe?

The difference being the tea party members themselves had signs talking about tea bagging.

Yeah - everyone forgets that they named themsleves that - and then got mad that it had another meaning.
