WOW look at this slide show , it must have been quit a sight . You can view the slides without a subscription to the Chron.com.

They first appeared as a distant speck on the horizon of Galveston Bay.
As they slowly made their way up the Houston Ship Channel to Barbours Cut Terminal, they gained definition: four, 30-story-tall, 1,500-ton cranes improbably attached to the deck of a ship - the largest cranes ever to grace the Port of Houston.

Wow, even Morganna wasn't that top heavy.

I'd be scared being on that ship.

I sure wish they really mean it this time and expand the port so more consumer goods go through the port.

When I used to be in the manufacturing business, the amount paid to use the Los Angeles Port is insane. Delays are almost expected. And don't even get me started on the unions there.

Houston really is in the perfect location as a major logistic center. It is right in the middle so both coasts can be reached by trucks in 3-5 days.

Well, if the predictions are true about the effects of the Panama Canal expansion, we should see more traffic through the port.

I'll tell you what, the line of ships waiting to enter the port that I observed while in Galveston this weekend would indicate to this layman that we may need a few more pilots and a wider channel soon.
