I have not been to a Randall store for eons, but glancing at its ads,I notice they seem to have more high end items-like Prime steak ,larger frozen lobster, brand name catfish filet,Panera bread?
Is it a better place to shop for better cut of meat and fresher seafood?

Randall’s used to have the cache of being a higher end grocery store with a good bakery. They got bought out by Tom Thumb and since then were surpassed by HEB and Kroger.

They had well run stores back in the day.

I want to know how they are NOW?
Since they were bought out, they get better wholesale prices.
I recall they even have an area roped and featured daily special ,you can eat there!
I may check them out this weekend to see

I try to avoid shopping there when I can.

Overpriced and inferior to HEB in my opinion.

Randall’s was THE place for the highest quality (if not the lowest prices) back around 2001.

The number of stores dropped significantly since then and their reputation is not nearly what it was.

I wonder how many stores they had then and now.

It’s part of the Albertsons portfolio which makes their brands wannabe Whole Foods.

I can only speak for their location on FM 359 in Richmond. That store looks like 1990 on the inside, the prices are high (compared to competition), and the quality is not better than that of a Kroger of HEB. There's a reason it's never crowded (at least this location), save for a Hurricane or holiday.

Specifically, that location is unique in that:
a.) It still exists as a Randalls (these stores have been closing up shop over the last decade+)
b.) It is the closest to and really only full size grocery store for most of Pecan Grove and developments along that stretch of 359. Yes, some of the areas on the periphery could drive over to 99 or up to 1093 for shopping, but there is still a sizeable population that is enough to support this location.

If you were to pick up that store and plunk it on 1093 or 99, I imagine it too would have closed up as this part of Fort Bend has developed.

Yea I used to live in Pecan Grove. I'd say it's the "older" population that's lived out there for decades that keeps it going. I made the +/- 5 mile drive to HEB and it was always well worth it, in my opinion.
