Houston is not conservative. I would say it's moderate.

Health care too with the Texas Medical Center (number one in the world),
TMC is the largest in the world. Not the best. Boston's #1 when it comes to medical research.

Umm...it's more like:

Bush- economic crash

Obama- gigantic effing economic cleanup.

Not to mention:

Clinton - economic boom.

Anyways, in terms of the article it seems pretty legit...but there are a lot of things that don't necessarily seem sustainable. The cost of living doesn't necessarily seem sustainable to me. The super-expensive cities he listed like NY, SF, Bos, DC, etc weren't always super-expensive. As Houston becomes more and more attractive, I don't see how it can keep taxes low and housing prices in the basement. Does Houston plan on just continuing the "drive until you qualify"-style of development?

Not inside the loop. The biggest misconception with Houston is that the entire city is cheap. While nowhere in Houston is as expensive as the coasts, the inner loop is not really that cheap. It's the outer areas of the city limits that is cheap and that's where most of the people are moving to. Inside the Loop is getting to the point where Chicago is now.

Eh... I'd say it's more socially moderate (live and let live, no social agenda is pushed), and fiscally conservative. Definitely a libertarian element as well (i.e. lack of formal zoning, although there are city ordinances for land use).
