Was there last night (planning for a future event there, actually) and was thoroughly impressed. The event side will be great for performances and actually feels like a legit venue.
Nice write-up about the continued growth and success of the Huntington Mall which is bucking national trends of “dying” indoor malls. Also highlighting the retail success of the Barboursville area in general. Tanyard Station and other projects will only continue to fuel this.
One interesting line regarding the future plans for the mall:
Quote:
In the future you’ll see more entertainment and more alternative draws for people other than retail.
Obviously the Huntington Mall understands the fast shifting nature of retail and they're trying to be proactive, at least as much as they can.
Perhaps the Mall can be a great spot to have a comedy club? I'm not sure if you would have it inside the mall, like in a converted store front or if you have it in an exterior building.
Looks like a portion of The Summit development is starting to take shape on the lower end of the property with cinderblocks being laid. I am looking forward to seeing the design. It is certainly going to be multilevel but hopefully will have a unique look that is aesthetically appealing. Can’t believe there’s still not been any reporting on that project.
