Well not so much local, but last weekend I was in Chicago. Yep, home of the Deep Dish.

Went to Lou Malnati's... and as some had warned me, it was okay. Sausage was amazing. Crust - meh, sauce - missed something, and none of us thought they put cheese on it. We went with a locale who also thought we should go to Pequod's, but said "Lou's is Chicago."

We won't go back, and with the son living there now, we'll be hitting a few other places.

A few years back, we went to a party where they had Uno's pizzas flown-in from Chicago. They were amazed that I only had a single slice, and I didn't rant about how good it was. For me, it just wasn't what I wanted in a pizza.

I saw boxed Uno's Pizzas at the Target deli last week.

Also went to Coals Artisan Pizza in Louisville, and that was really, really good. I had a bacon pizza, wife had something with arugula and bacon- and that was even better.

Figure Louisville is in the middle of Chicago and Bama, that might be where we meet our son for various holidays.

I had Uno's chain pizza when we lived in Connecticut. First time it was great, next two locations - not good. Won't go back.

Went to the Maddie's place last week. Wasn't great, wasn't bad. Pretty quick service.

Did the job for a quick lunch.

Been hitting Famous Joe's on a regular basis. Glad he moved to Athens. So glad.

I know the owner's wife. They are from CT, I believe. She said the pizza is a Northeastern style. We haven't had a chance to try it, but the online reviews look promising.
