People on their Facebook page are saying they are closed and the restaurant is empty...super weird. I thought Abuela's was terrible, so it is no surprise to me.

Also, I never understood why they picked that location after Casa Blanca failed there...if any Mexican restaurant should have been able to survive there, it would have been Casa Blanca.

(I wasn't sure if I should've started another thread over this or not...)

Are there any other kinds of Hispanic restaurants around the area? Something Central American/South American?

Soon a Brazilian place is opening in Bridgestreet. That is South American. I've always wanted to try one of those places and get my grilled meat cravings stuffed out.

About 10 years ago, there was a Brazilian restaurant on Whitesburg, just south of Huntsville Hospital.
Went there a few times, food was good, but it was generally empty. It stayed open a year or two.

We go to one in Pelham called La Libertad and one in Nashville called Pupuseria Salvadoreña. I'm ready for one to open-up in Madison County.

Pupusas topped with curtido and a large horchata - YUM!!!

Yeah, I saw the billboard for it-- Texas de Brazil. We had a ton of those in Miami. I told my husband and he was very, very happy about it. It's really cool but expensive, but that's because there are servers who come around dressed in white with these large skewers of different meats and that you have have as much as you want.

I guess I'm just missing what I got in Miami. Like I went to Publix today and I'm used to the bakeries having sweets as well as savory pastries (croquettes, Jamaican patties, ham and cheese turnovers). And I know I'm dreeeeeeaming when I think of eating at a Fritanga (my husband is Nicaraguan) with the salcipon, queso frito, tajadas ... Ah well, I traded my Miami-acquired tastes for the food of my childhood.

Oh, Encode, Huntsville is NEVER going to match Miami food choices. I'm sorry.
Priceville (of all places) had a Portuguese restaurant for a while, opened by a couple of sisters, I think. Nobody knew what Portuguese citizens eat. It's been gone a long, long time.
