Simply the population growth will continue to appeal to people. If people see that people continue to want to live in Huntsville that will make them more likely to look at the city, basically because it looks like a fun place that people like.

It's hard to say what the city can do after BRAC. Something that is holding the region back is that Huntsville, Decatur, Albertville and Scottsboro are all separate areas that are almost in no way tied to eachother. That has really hindered the growth of the region. Hopefully, after the census, we can work some of that out. Regional cooperation also has a great deal of appeal to outsiders looking for somewhere to live.

I feel that Huntsville is shifting towards being like Birmingham where people move out of the city and commute.

I don't think so... The good thing about Huntsville is that people can live in a suburban setting, out in the middle of nowhere and still live in Huntsville.

Yeah this isn't really happening because Huntsville has annexed a lot of the land in suburban areas for future growth. Huntsville city limits are over 202 square miles far larger than B'ham in land size. The city population also has increased by almost 15,000 since the year 2000.

A good question? Will Huntsville ever turn into another Birmingham after a decent boom or go towards a Atlanta (a slow-mid growth scale) with development and nice population gain?

It's hard to say. It depends on if this job growth is sustainable... Sadly, you can never tell how a city is going to turn out. If you really wanna look at a region that would best represent how Huntsville will probably turn out, look at Raleigh.
