I just wanted to chime in and thank everyone for the updates. We left Naples on Thursday and are sitting in a hotel in Alabama, along with many other residents from our area and appreciate all of the information. While we are all fearful that our homes will be devastated, at least getting the information helps us process what is going on as well as helping us to decide what we will need to do after the storm hits.

Thinking about the bust areas. What's a strong breeze for Miami and 4-6 inches of rain? Just saying. There's going to be areas where after this is said and done that wasn't affected as bad. and people will be pissed they dealt with evacuation, hotels, traffic, travelling, hype, and fear, ect. I think Florida can handle .... what.... 90mph GUSTS for 12hrs? 60mph sustained? I don't know. Talking about the East side now.

BTW - I'm seeing 40-65mph gusts already across South Florida.. Posting map now,

4:05pm map... With the Wind Gusts reports

I added 2 of them including Miami.

Marathon Airport 59mph wind gust. Dewpoint 77F. Feels like 90° with rain bands whipping in. Now that's a "Tropical" feel.

Watching webcam in Key West of Marina. Several nice yachts at risk.

Currently waves breaking on but not above breakwater.
Water ripples on surface inside Marina.

Rainfall update

Also looking at historical data. Have a look at how flooded Tampa was based on minor rain storm.

http://www.tampabay.com/news/weather...infall/2239628
Just rain alone will damge Tampa.

Then there is the Surge

Then there are waves on top of surge

Finally the wind.

OK that's twice now and nobody took the bait.

How about waiting until the hurricane actually happens?

Not surprised someone from CT considers it "a bust" when people's lives are NOT destroyed by a hurricane.
