New CIS Video Exposes Security Weaknesses on Southwest Border

NumbersUSA

Over the past two weeks, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have called their respective chambers back to Washington from the summer recess to pass a $600 million border-spending bill. DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano decreed the border secure with the supplemental funding, but a new video released by the Center for Immigration Studies shows quite a different reality.

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Jerry Kammer, who is now a Senior Research Fellow with CIS, takes an in-depth look at the Border Patrol’s attempts to secure the border in Cochise County, which is located along the Tucson Sector of the Southwest border with Mexico.

Border weaknesses? CIS must've forgotten about the ocean. The BP and Coast Guard have absolutely no way of stopping those boats on the west coast.

I guess you've never heard of the "US Coast Guard".

UPDATED: Shooting in Juarez Spills Into El Paso | KTSM News Channel 9

The shootings happened in Juarez, right across the border from UTEP. Standing near campus you could see Mexican police teams raiding a house. At one point on-lookers, reporters and police we're told to duck for cover as shots rang out. We're told Juarez police were ambushed around 4:50pm, and a gun fight followed on and off until about 5:30pm. That is when the last shots were heard.

Police closed down W. Paisano Dr. from Executive to Santa Fe in downtown El Paso. We're told a rescue mission, with families including children, was evacuated. Several DPS officers pulled onto the UTEP campus, and we were told they were going to shut down I-10 so no one was hit by the bullets. Although that's an unconfirmed report. We also noticed a train stopped on the tracks between Juarez and El Paso, in the area where the gun battle broke out. Some people think that was done with a purpose, to provide an iron curtain between the two border cities.

This just today. Wicked Felina is right - our government, the current administration is making no attempt to secure the border, not the coasts, not the land. Security of Americans is a joke.
