And reviewing just the CIS homepage shows that their focus is on more than illegal immigration...
How can they possibly differentiate, when no government agency, including the Census Bureau, maintains data on illegal aliens? Heck, it's all a guesstimate. As long as the government refuses to account for the illegal population, no distinction will or can be made. However, given their poverty stats, it stands to reason they're receiving tax-funded benefits. Otherwise, they would be starving and living in tents.

More Latino children are living in poverty -- 6.1 million in 2010 -- than children of any other racial or ethnic group. This marks the first time in U.S. history that the single largest group of poor children is not white. In 2010, 37.3% of poor children were Latino, 30.5% were white and 26.6% were black, according to an analysis of new data from the U.S. Census Bureau by the Pew Hispanic Center, a project of the Pew Research Center.
This negative milestone for Hispanics is a product of their growing numbers, high birth rates and declining economic fortunes. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, Hispanics today make up a record 16.3% of the total U.S. population. But they comprise an even larger share (23.1%) of the nation's children, a disparity driven mainly by high birth rates among Hispanic immigrants.
Of course most illegal families here are living off welfare handouts. Virtually no illegal coming here to take the cheap labor jobs bothers buying medical insurance, they virtually all count on free health care being given them. Illiterate uneducated illegals cannot make it in this country on the low wages they accept, jobs with no benefits.
These people weren't making it back in their own country where they knew the language and culture and where the cost of living is much much lower than here.
An illegal who left his/her kids behind and who has no health problems might actually not required welfare handouts, but once they start having babies here, pretty much every one of them takes food stamps, WIC, and housing subsidies, Medicaid and other welfare handouts.
Drop reduced cost school lunches from the equation as well, and the percentages go way down...
Medicaid pays for the births and the US born child gets all kinds of Medicaid, food stamps, WIC and free housing. Almost no illegal bothers with car insurance much less medical insurance which costs much much more.
The illegal parents most certainly use many welfare programs in order to have their extra large families here in this country. Mexico for example has a growing middle class, ours is shrinking -- so it's pretty obvious that the illegals are very much attracted to the welfare handouts. If they wanted to work hard, stay in school, limit family size and all that, they'd be middle class in their own country.

Added that the Pro-Illegal supporters keep shreeking that "legal" Hispanic immigrants are having smaller families. It's then obvious that the people having families they cannot afford without tax payer assistance are Hispanic Illegals. Illegals that predominantly come from Mexico.
Why someone would immigrate here legally from Mexico yet attempt to defend those from Mexico coming here by breaking the law and becoming a burden on tax payers is odd.

Actually the data I've seen doesn't itemize it to immigration status (so it is U.S. citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, and illegal alien Hispanics grouped together): Poor economy slows Hispanic baby boom
Of course the current birthrate in Mexico is just over two children (replacement level is 2.1) per female in her lifetime, not much higher than for all ethnicities combined in the United States: Mexico's population: When the niños run out | The Economist
Legal immigrants can take the same advantages with their U.S.-born citizen children as illegal aliens do, so the two groups should track nearly identically...

Obviously, the Mexicans in Mexico, and those living here illegally, have different priorities and lifestyles. After all, most Mexican illegals are the bottom rung. I suspect those remaining in Mexico generally have the children they can afford to support. Unlike those fleeing to the U.S., giving birth at lightning speed, realizing Uncle Sucker will support them.

I was saying that Hispanic legal and illegal immigrants should track very closely...
The Mexicans whom become illegal aliens are not their lowest Socioeconomic rung...
That is the indigenous peoples...
