As America faces critical water shortages, it highlights the second reason why I find illegal immigration and "open border" advocates to be problematic:

Many States Facing Water Shortages - AOL News (broken link)

The United States is a "big" country, with lots of open land. A lot of it, however, is not inhabitable but for the importation of resources from other places, which are dwindling as our population grows.

Can we afford to continue taking in more and more and more and more people, above and beyond what scientists and sociologists tell us is the "correct" or "best" amount for sustainable development and growth?

Lady Liberty had good intentions, but clearly she couldn't see far enough into the future for people to continue to point to her message of "give me your poor"!

Now people are blaming illegals for water shortages?! Looks to me like the blame game to me in America that is ever so increasing.

UGH, some people are simply exasperating to deal with! Pay attention please!

Nobody is blaming ILLEGALS for the shortage, the point is that many of the so-called "open border" advocates and their arguments are in fact anathema to principles of sustainable development and environmental conservation.

Little to low population growth is ESSENTIAL for the health and future of this economy and country as a whole. A million people "extra" per year streaming in unchecked will be TENS of millions later on. When we're already gasping for resources, how do you suppose we'll provide for all those extra water and resource needs?

As you probably already know, Mexico doesn't do too well with conserving the earth. Mexico city is the most polluted city in the world.

Well, I see that as yet another problem MEXICO has to work out "on its own."

But, I wouldn't advocate MORE people moving into Mexico from Central America if the situation is already dire.

Wouldn't you say Iraq was a problem it had to work out "on its own"? Yet the U.S interfered.

And the US was wrong to do so.

Anything else you want to bring up that has no relevance whatsoever?

Maybe we should secure our STATE borders. Moving to California from another state? You have to move here LEGALLY through the Department of Migration.

Another idea is to empty out the West and declare it a Reserve or National Park but look what happened the last time that happened. It lead to ILLEGAL crossings through the Proclamation LINE and the American Revolution.

Regulating movement is really counterproductive. It goes against nature destroying languages, culture, etc. Maybe Northerners should have been forced to stay in the Rust Belt because the Southern States were worried about overpopulation and the Federal Government was more interested in keeping a somewhat vibrant in the North.

we should just tell people how much water they can drink and control population rates so theres more to go around. surely the water shortage isnt a crisis, but rather someones fault. if we kill undeserving americans, everyone worthy will survive. who's unworthy? we report, you decide.

Unfortunately, the US Constitution forbids states from disallowing free migration between the states. But it's not a bad idea, really. Atlanta, one of the fastest growing cities in America, is particularly hit by water shortages right now.

So you would allow your neighbor to "move in" to a portion of your house when his own family outgrew his?

How kind. Where do you live? I'll send some of my stuff to store at your house.
