The consumers don't pay any less because they have cheap labor. The employer just gets to pocket more. But I am sure if employers didn't get to keep their illegals they might raise prices that high, just to teach us a lesson.
GuyP, my husband has also seen the construction wages go down 50% EXACTLY, I had to ask him to find another field, because we cannot live on wages like that.

We do have a program where illegals can come here to work, it's called the migrant workers program, this program keeps tabs on them and they know exactly who is here, if some of these illegals took the time to look into a program like this instead of just walking across the border, they could come here and work and I am sure they would let them work at McDonald's or wherever. I think it comes back to the point, they are in someone else's country. You don't just walk in and start doing whatever you want, you need to ask first. Immigration, migrant worker programs all of these things are respectful in the sense you are asking for permission to be here. I think that is all anyone really wants, to have info on who's here and follow the rules.

Ah but many do walk in and do whatever they want because they can. We are the hypocrites that never enforced our laws. And now like magic we are supposed to reverse all those years of non-enforcement.

Attitudes change.
60 years ago most Americans were OK with Jim Crow laws against our Black brethren..........then people, both Black and White said it was time for a change.
Suffice to say: if I were here illegally; I would get out of the USA.......fast.
