Even if promises of quick amnesty and big rewards for being here illegal were to stop, many illegals will go back. Unfortunately these may be the better quality of illegals, those who are mooching off government handouts will be the hardest to dislodge.

Contrary to what many people (pro-illegals) claim, Mexico is really not all that bad a country. Many illegals intended at least at first as they were first packing their bags, to return home soon. Sometimes they're even quite homesick for their hometown. The problem is many get hooked on the dollars here, inertia sets in, they get comfortable, and decide to stay. Rather than get back to the wife and kids and family back home, they've either forgotten them - started a new family with some gf here, or had them smuggled in.

Sometimes however they do go back. They even go back on their own. They get tired of "living in the shadows" even though it's not much of any shadows, they decide they prefer to live where they like the language and culture. They miss the traditions that are obviously more real and heartfelt back home. They miss their families.

It's great drama of course to insist that back in Mexico, they're going to die, they'll watch their kids starve to death or that once they picked up a couple words of English, they can never learn Spanish again. Great drama to insist there are no schools back in Mexico, no way ever possible to get ahead.

It's just not true.

Don't forget he's an immigrant himself, so he is more understanding to their needs. (*gag*)

His priorities are not what they should be.

How are you going to round 'em up?

Hypotheticals are great...but it really doesn't answer the question.

I wouldn't.

A round up to be thorough would mean door to door searches and things like that -- that's not necessary and it denies my rights as an American to have agents knock down my doors and search my house for illegals that aren't there.

People only throw out works like "round-up", "ship them home in cattle-cars" for dramatic effect.

1. Cut off all government benefits to people who have no business being here. Including all the food stamps being picked up by illegal parents for anchor babies they had for that purpose.

2. Prosecute the employers of illegals to the maximum extent of the law. The highest possible fines, back taxes they owe for non payment of social security tax they deducted but pocketed. Shut them down.

3. Stop promising that citizenship as a reward for breaking our laws is just around the corner.

4. Make it clear that like Mexico we have laws that if someone is caught being here illegally that there is deportation and a 10 year ban for re-entry. AND if they have no criminal record of any kind and want to immigrate here, their best bet is to get home before they get a criminal record and start over the right way, apply for legal immigration just like many others have and are doing.

Where will the money come from to get the resources needed to deport them?
Operation Ike II is all it would take. As Malute stated but toss in random deportations in the middle of the City.

ENFORCEMENT! If they cannot work anywhere, and they cannot eat, they will leave. Cut ALL freebies. It’s just that simple. They remain here because our government permits it.

How will deport them? Again, they can slip under the radar. So if you simply deny services this is not going to do anything. Also, if they have forged documents it kind of defeats the purpose of "if they are illegal or not" because they would legal. So again, how will you keep it on the cheap? How will this stimulate our economy? How will communities with large illegal populations cope? How will SS cope? It's a very interrelated problem which is what a lot of people often forget or don't realize.

Attrition through enforcement will eliminate the vast population of illegals. Namely the ones here breeding at the speed of sound for welfare and other freebies.

As for social security, those meager wages they pay into the fund by using stolen social security numbers are just that, meager. If they were massive social security would be solvent. As it stands social security is estimated to be bankrupt by the year of 2042. Personally, I doubt that it will even last that long. Lots of illegal alien anchors are receiving more than illegal aliens with stolen social security numbers are contributing.

It is not rocket science and there are no interrelated problems. The US survived the great depression. Illegal aliens have contributed greatly to the current recession. If illegal aliens are deported or forced out through attrition the US will be better than ever without their massive population of poverty stricken illiterate breeders, criminals and leeches.

If we stop sending 10's of billions to mexico annually and rid ourselves of the billions that illegal aliens cost us in social services, we might actually see a balanced budget again.

That being said, I will pose this question one more time: If they are so wonderful, industrious and hardworking why aren't they valued by and creating jobs and economic solvency in mexico?
