Never ask a question if you don't want a straight answer. I was dead serious about not wanting anything to do with bigots.
Make a note: you shouldn't cry racist when debating illegal immigration and then say that you don't think that people who oppose illegal immigration are racists. It exposes you as a liar.
I have one question that I would like folks help me answer.
I am Latino. Specifically Puerto Rican. My family has been "American" since 1898. We have been here a while and have contributed greatly to this country. Also, I'm far from ever being illegal.
OK, so the question is:
When I go to visit Arizona, let's say the Grand Canyon, how should I dress or look to prevent from being suspected of being in the country illegally? What documents should I bring?
I really would not want to waste one second of my precious time being harassed by local government. This bill really puts me on edge for possible harassment.
I mean the governor doesn't know what an illegal alien looks like, who's to say the cops will.
Latino = Illegal?
Thanks.
Try to pass for a non NYer LMAO !
Just kidding .
The problems are from Phoenix to the border . If you don't have a Mexican gang tattoo I don't think they are looking for you . Read up on the Mexican gangs recent murders and kidnappings of Mexicans who live in Arizona . I think you will understand why they are doing this . Most of the small groups of protesters are from out of state .
I bet Martin Luther King would think "Why do all these illegal immigrants have jobs while so many of my people are out of work?"
This new law should be adopted by every state. An even better law would be to go after the businesses that employ illegal immigrants. Charge one, big fine. Charge two, even bigger fine. Charge three, huge fine and loss of business license.
If anyone has a beef with these new laws they should direct their ire at the illegal immigrants who are making these laws necessary.
There WAS a bill passed concerning employers/illegals in 2007. So far it hasn't worked very well, that I can tell. Last week there was one incident that made the news but I live in an area known for hiring illegals and haven't heard of any busts. Oh wait, there was one at a restaurant in Sedona but far as I know the people who were detained have been replaced by family members. My niece works there and told me this.
Any job I've had in the past five years have required that I produce a DL and SS card that were photocopied and kept on record. I still have my original birth cert. too but it's nearly 70 years old and kinda falling apart. If I were to get a replacement from Phoenix would it be 'valid'? I don't know.

I never said I was in favor of illegal immigration.
What I said was, I am in favor of upholding the letter and the spirit of the Constitution, which is the owner's manual for this country.

How not to look illegal while on vacation in AZ.
Don't book hotel reservations at a drop house.
Don't hide family members in the back of a truck with wooden boards stacked on top of them.
All kidding aside, come to Arizona and enjoy your vacation.

Just be yourself. If you have nothing to hide, you'll be fine. Stop being so emotional.
Speaking English helps. And carry a valid ID & Driver's License like the rest of the U.S. citizens have to. Obey the traffic laws. That should do it. It's not rocket science... no one's going to 'pick on you'.... so don't feel like you have to be paranoid, just to make a point. The new law is there for a good reason.... to protect YOU also.
