Jon, have you considered buying a manufactured home? Belvidere has a great park, Greenview Estates right on Newburg Road. The park is super clean and very well managed. The lot rent is about $325 a month if I remember right.

greenviewestates.com/page2a (http://www.greenviewestates.com/greenviewestates.compage2a_000.html - broken link)

I lived out there for 8 years (my ex-wife still does) and it sure beat paying rent. When you sell it even if you lose a few thousand on it, it still ends up being way cheaper than renting. It's a great way to start saving for a house too. Use as a stepping stone.

I live in Belvidere and there are a lot of good areas, and some not-so-good ones (though they are still decent); but I would advise staying out of Rockford if you can. I can help with some more specific info but I guess I need to know what price range you are thinking about? And you are sure you want to rent and not buy right now? (we have a LOT of inventory out here right now)

Would you be willing to rent any of your properties?

We're planning on visiting the area around June to find a plae to rent. Can you PM me with your company info?

Well I'm transferring in as a manager for farm & fleet.I only anticipate being there a few years, maybe 5 tops. Were looking for 3+ bedrooms, for preferably under $1000 a month, lower is better of course.

Right now were in a 2 bedroom, with a finished basement, and my 2 girls share that as their bedroom, with my wife and I and my son upstairs.....

I have excellent references from my current landlord

The cat doesn't really count as they only seem to focus on the dogs. The bigger problem is the size of the dog. They only allow dogs under 20 lbs. if I remember correctly.

There also is Four Seasons mobile home park. I never lived there but it appears to be a nice park as well. I liked Greenview because it had many retirees living there so it was always quiet and rare to have any problems.

What is your timeframe. I have a 3 bedroom 1 bath home in rockford, all new appliances finished lower level, dog and cat are ok. rent would be under $1000mo. We are looking at building or buying a larger home and keeping this one as an investment. Nice yard for the kids. It's a 15 min drive to the belvidere FF.
