I do most of my investing for the long-term.

However, there is the swing trader (a little bit) in me who likes to understand these shorter-term movements in the markets.

This time around, I noticed that the Russell 2000 index started to head down first and then the other stock market indexes followed.

As the dip continues, I'll make some purchases with tax return monies as well as recent dividends received.

If you look at a chart of the DOW since December 1, there is a certain beauty to it.

I like it when that happens.

Since you (mis)appropriated my comment, I'll address: you've gone on record many times that no matter what the market is doing, whether it's climbing or falling or even languishing, you're in some manner of emotional anguish in response, with variable waves of guilt, fear, uncertainty, and doubt.

There is no financial model or logical approach suggested and discussed that has assuaged and there doesn't appear to be one that can. Expectations, even if met, wouldn't appear to result in any level of enjoyment because every possible outcome, even a positive outcome, remains correlated to some measure of self-doubt, self-loathing, worry, and wretchedness.
Haha, you take some posts here too literally.

Carter Worth says we're headed back to Dec 24th lows... just saying, this definitely looks like a possibility... that was pretty brutal, I feel we will see it again, just my thoughts, I agree with Carter Worth.

I'd be interested to know how many here will back the truck up if we get to Dec 24 lows. Those who didn't buy on 12/24 do you think you'll have the nerve to buy this time if it happens or do you think we'll continue lower?

that is the problem ..the nervous nellies don't have the nerve to buy when it looks like markets have no bottom ..

it is rare those who bail out of nervousness have the nerves to get back in , in time

The question really is if it is headed back down to the Dec low, after a 3 month run up and back
What is to keep it from doing the same thing at any point going forward?
And the answer is really nothing—
The market fluctuates
How much, how often is something people try to predict or analyze for insight and provide some measure of certainty over decision making
