I don't this is unique to Orange Park., With news about shootings in Movie Theaters I would think that movie theaters all over the US now have armed guards police officers. Many business will hire an off duty officer for security and they will be in uniform but not "on-duty" for the sheriffs/police department.

Maybe. But I haven't seen any at the Cinemark Tinseltown nor the Regal Avenues off of Phillips Highway. At least not uniformed officers and certainly not two uniformed officers.

About 2/3s of the way through the movie a large group of teens raced into the theater I was in to the very back as if they were running from someone. Right behind them was security (not the police) to kick them out.

Regardless, it's just an observance. Can take it as a sign of the area or not.

Have seen JSO drive thru the parking lot at Regal and seen a JSO cruiser sitting along the curb next to Tinseltown theater, but that was it. No uniformed officers walking around either theater though. Now, because of the trouble that happened at the Regency Theater, uniformed JSO do patrol and walk around there. We have gone to the Home Depot at Regency Mall area during the day, but would never go into that area at night. Just the way we feel.

Of course the Southside of Jacksonville is much nicer than Orange Park in every way... There are no sketchy areas not even the Gator Lodge area of Philips Hwy

Didn't say that, but nice try.

I guess you don't get sarcasm

People that live on the Southside have this mistaken notion that their side of the river is soooo much nicer than the Westside of the river. They are not that different. They will tell any inquiry about moving to Jacksonville with something along the lines. " Don't even think about looking on THAT side of town." Its one thing to have a valid point(i.e. commutes on Blanding Blvd suck or its farther from the beach) but another to just disparage an entire side of town with prejudicial notions.

I am not going to say that one side is better than another. It depends on many factors and the better location for one person would not be right for another

There are nice parts and down right bad parts of every section of town, well maybe not Ponte Vedra Beach.

As several of us, including me, have pointed out. But apparently you missed that in your haste to defend your turf.

DUH! I havent missed anything you pointed out. You act as if the only part of Jax with traffic problems is Blanding. I don't deny that traffic sucks... Clay County has one of the longest average commutes in the state, but to present Orange Park as hell on earth and Mandarin and the Southside as paradise is too much. THEY ARE NOT THAT DIFFERENT. Just a matter of what works for people, their lifestyle, where they work etc. No one would want to commute from Middleburg to Mayport if they didn't need to. And a 50 year old married couple with no kids at home aren't as concerned about schools as a single mom with 2 elementary school kids.

I have lived in different parts of Jax over the years: Southside Blvd, Baymeadows, Jax Beach, Avondale the Westside, Middleburg and Lake Asbury. I have generally been happy with where I lived. Every location has its pluses and minuses

I think we're actually presenting northern St. Johns county as paradise, not those dung filled neighborhoods in Duval! You lived there?! Perish the thought!!

Nope. I actually didn't say that either, nice try yet again. I only pointed out the mess that is Blanding and that the commute would really be awful if you had to go to downtown or the beaches.

I've visited and offered my opinions on the area, which is what the OP was asking for....opinions.
