It makes no difference what people say about your generation of workers. If what you say about yourself is true, and I have no reason to doubt it, then you will stand head and shoulders above the rest. You are not guilty by association. Rather, you will succeed because your actions will be congruent to your words.
For other posters-
So, how does one handle the salary/money issue? Okay, let them bring it up first but then you have no real idea as to what an acceptable pay range is. Even with internet searches, etc., sometimes this info is outdated or unique to area. I believe in doing your research before the interview and this has worked well for me. The money issue, is however, seemingly difficult.
I also would think with all the complaints from prospective employers and obvious lack of common sense and degrading work ethic of younger generations, that older, "seasoned" employees would be preferred, regardless of the fact that they may be 10 years away from employment. I would rather hire a solid candidate than someone I think is going to stick around because of their youth, only to find out that I again must advertise their position because their youth was the reason they were terminated.
