I don't know how much you know about KC, but you seem to be, perhaps willfully, entirely ignorant about crime, history and data.

Or you are. Perhaps you ignore the data every year that show Kansas City as being in the top ten cities in the nation for violent crime. If the "history" you talk about is in the last 50 years - well, I have lived here and I know first hand.

St. Louis #4 and KC #10th deadliest cities in the nation in 2015.

2015 was Kansas City

2015 was KC's deadliest year for homicides since 2011

Bafflingly irrelevant.

Yes, when we are talking about crime in Kansas City and how crime is worse now, articles about how Kansas City now is in the top 10 nationwide for violent crime are irrelevant.

Again (and again and again) municipal crime statistics take the activities of a few horrible neighborhoods and make it look like the whole city is a war zone. That's the only reason St. Louis looks so bad, because the stats aren't offset by a bunch of suburban-style neighborhoods, like they are in Kansas City.

I for one hope these neighborhoods find a way to improve. But in the meantime, the odds of any given individual (who avoids the ghetto) being the victim of a crime in Kansas City is insignificant.

So everyone should just ignore crime stats and not worry about anything. Detroit is totally safe!!!!

Statistics are gathered for a reason. There are bad areas of Kansas City. There is also quite a bit of crime in areas that you would say are not bad. Just like kcmo was trying to say the other day that Westport/Plaza is not any worse now than it was in the 80s. Yes it is. I worked there in the 80s. My former employer now is moving employees to other locations because of the crime in the area. They weren't doing that in the 80s.

Exactly. For example, Indianapolis has a lower crime rate than KC because it annexed so much. Indianapolis city population is over 800k. Annexing those suburbs diluted the crime rate in Indy, when in actuality their bad areas are probably the equal to Kansas City's.

I'm uncertain if you are being obtuse or you are just that simple.
