We want to meet our daughter along the way for a trip where she will be joining us. Looking at a map, Salina Kansas looks like a good meeting point. I know nothing about it and have never been there. Is it practical to find a place to leave a cat sitting for several days? I saw an airport there, so maybe it would make sense to park at the airport.

Reasonably safe town?

Anyone know the place well enough they have specific suggestions or locations to avoid?

Thank you.

I would park at the Manhattan Regional Airport. I'd feel more secure there as its reasonably busy, better security, and free parking up to 2 weeks. Manhattan is a much more interesting town as well. I'd guess its 1 hour to Salina.

I dont know anything about the Salina airport, I cant imagine its busy at all, but I could be wrong.

They would have pet boarding there. I used to live there and had to board a pet, that was a long time ago so I'm guessing as the city has grown so are the pet boarding choices. I think Salina is a pretty nice town I can't think of any place that's bad. I was back there twice last year. The city is laid out out pretty good so its easy get around Most of the development is on the south end. They have nice parks. They used to call the mall the Mid-Continent mall.

Salina is fine. Free parking at the airport. Manhattan is off the interstate. If you have trouble finding pet boarding I would call Weckels Pet Care at 785-825-7387-they are a vets office but could give you possible places. Salina Airport is small but there is enough parking.

The Salina airport is an old Air Force base and has a very long runway which makes it popular with pilots. It is quite busy with general aviation.

I will look at Manhattan as well. I simply found Salina because it looked like the closest place to Denver that was also reasonably along our route from Detroit to Denton Texas.

I had an image of a brave little cat sitting alone at the airport in my mind.

Salina would be the easiest for sure. And with KSU Salina and their aviation program so close, they prob have their own security driving around. Glad there's no cat involved sitting in a car!!

No need to just sit around alone, Kitty can fly around as long as he is already at an airport..
