Well, after 3 years of purging, upgrading and staging our house, we are on the verge of closing on the house, which then allows me to retire (after 30 years) and allows us to relocate to Kauai. The plan was devised 3 years ago, and it took 3 years to do it right. The goal of relocating to the Garden Island took tremendous perseverance and patience, but the finish line is in sight. Our Big Move is just 20 days away.

However, this plan could not have been completed without the excellent advice and encouragement of the members of this blog. This blog was the source of essentially all of the information (mostly good) about things that needed to get done before the relocation (e.g., opening up a bank account remotely, getting a post office box remotely, tax issues, car issues, etc.). I have posted on this blog occasionally, but relied on it regularly for good advice on the relocation.

This message is partly an update (for anyone who might be interested) and partly a Big Mahalo to those who responded to my many questions and requests for advice. I will refrain from identifying any of you by name, but you know who you are and your efforts to help others represent good karma that will come back to you. Mahalo nui loa e malama pono!

Congratulations on your upcoming move! It sounds like we will be arriving on Kaua'i right about the same time.

I completely agree about the excellent advice and encouragement offered on this forum. Sometimes, it doesn't feel like encouragement, but even a seemingly negative response can offer food for thought and help you rethink something or change directions. And, sometimes you have to do a bit of digging, but the information is there if you look for it. And, if it's not there, ask and it shall be given!

Hope everything continues to go well for you as you move closer to Kaua'i.

Good on ya Mate! (just to mix up the metaphors a little )

I think the advice here is like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates... you never know what you'll get... but overall I think it is well meaning, and generally friendly. So it is nice to hear when it has been helpful to someone in making up their own mind about their own individual circumstances, no matter which way that decision leads them.

Best of luck with your impending move! Do keep us updated on how it goes.

Congratulations to both of you! We hope you will take time out from enjoying your new home to post updates on how it's going. The insights from the initial time when you're first learning how things work is invaluable to those who follow after.

How exciting for you both! We moved to the BI four years ago after seven years of planning and we are loving it.

Kaletjo and ChezAloha, please keep posting here and let us know how it goes. Before you know it, you'll be the knowledgeable ones giving advice.
