I did move to roan mountain after I had posted I would and it is a very nice place to live- peaceful and the people are nice. As far as trash we use Blue Ridge Trash service out of Elizabethton. They are very reasonable and provide excellent service. They will come pick up your trash in Roan Mountain. I use to live in a major metropolitan area and they far outdo the service provider there with their courtesy, price and service. Highly recommend using them- great company.

Default Wood Fired Pizza

We recently moved to Roan Mountain and are loving it here.
This week we discovered Smoky Mountain Bakers next to Cloudland High School. They make excellent wood fired pizza. The owners are transplants from California where they were quite well known for their wood fired breads (you can google on Tim Decker bread to know more about them).
Check it out when you get here!

My husband and I are relocating either to N.C. or Tenn. A friend told me about Roane Mountain. Can anyone give me any more info on it? We are retired and looking for a home to rent long-term. Does anyone know of a realtor who handles long-tem home renting?

Thank you!

Hi Katzoo
We own a cabin near Newland NC and in the area there are lots of rentals - some long term - Check with Linville Area Properties (LAMP) in Linville, NC. www.northcarolinaland.com, or www.mountainrunproperties.com in Newlnd NC. or www.braswellrealty.com.Roan Mnt. and Newland They all serve the "high country" of Eas Tn. and Western NC. While you are looking check out www.linvillelandharbor.com (that's where we have our cabin) Good luck to you.

Default Good Info!

Availability is usually limited to within about 18,000 feet by wire from the DSL hub. The best way to confirm availability is to search on the Centurylink site using a phone number at, or very near, the location of interest.

Not sure about cable service up there.
Good info! (I tried to give you a rep point (I guess I had given you one earlier and got yelled at)
