Coach Butch Jones makes his first regular season game debut today. He has done all the right things, said all the right things up until now. Starting today we start keeping score. I sure hope he is a winner! Go Big Orange!

As it is expected.... Tennessee has won the game -- 45-0.

Western Kentucky is the next one they play. They just defeated Kentucky 35-26 tonight. Should be a very interesting game to watch in Knoxville!

Great game, very well played, good sportsmanship, great hustle and he control and flow, with only one penalty, was great to see. Good time had by all, and seeing some 19 freshman contribute! 97,000 fans on a hot night!

I love his approach and attitude. Although Peyton Manning's idea, opening practice up to the fans was brilliant. A lot has been talked about regarding giving the players a chance to play in front of a crowd but I also think it was a great morale boost. When 39,000 fans showed up and stayed, even when it started to rain 30 minutes into it, the players knew it was still great to be a Tennessee Vol.

"When I saw the rain, I was afraid," senior offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James said. "I was (thinking), `Aw, man, everybody's going to leave.' But they stayed and they fought through it."

This article puts it into perspective:

Jones took it all in. A couple of hours before kickoff, he high-fived his way down Peyton Manning Pass as he led the players to Neyland Stadium on the Vol Walk.

"Our fans are outstanding," he said. "That Vol Walk was incredible."

Yes, Kiffin said similar things after his debut. For three years, Dooley gushed about the passion of UT fans. And we all know what happened to those two guys.

Somehow, though, Jones' words don't ring hollow. He seems in tune with Tennessee's history and traditions.

Next week's game will be interesting! I am not into football at all, but this season is slightly exciting even for me.

I guess it's the whole hometown team thing.
