In anticipation of being a full time resident of Las Vegas next year (hopefully by October 2012) is it a major chore to obtain tickets to Rebels football games and basketball games. Are they something you have to buy far in advance or know a season ticket holder to get tickets they do not use.

I have never had a problem getting UNLV football tix, even on game day as they are never any good. With new additions to the conference like Boise St and next year Nevada, some games may be hard to get, probably not though....Basketball maybe another story as the history of UNLV b-ball is well documented and I have heard there are always sell-outs but never been to one..

UNLV promoting football ticket sales, but what will it really take to get you to buy? - Las Vegas Sun

Unless the UNLV Rebels play a team that travels well (like Wisconsin), you will have NO problem getting tickets the day of the game.

There was a big article last year in the Milwaukee newspaper about Wisconsin fans buying UNLV season tickets so that they had 50 yard-line seats close in for the game. In Madison, game tickets in great seats are nearly impossible to get.

What hurts UNLV in that the field is miles off campus, the field is considered by MOST to be substandard, and the football team has been consistently mediocre.

UNLV football was decent when they were playing in the Big West Conference years ago as the teams were pretty similar - a step up from BCS football. However, they leaped to the MWC for the added prestige - without making a commitment to building a winning program.

Basketball doesn't sell out either, maybe a game a year. Other than the rare Wisconsin football situation, the only other team which draws big crowds in either sport is BYU and they left the conference.

So its not hard to get tickets, but you might consider being a good supporter and getting season tickets anyways. You won't have to donate hundreds of dollars to the school's "foundation" as you have to at most major universities these days to get the decent seats.

It's not too hard to get tickets for football or basketball, and they're generally not too expensive either.

There are a few games that are big sellers (such as when the Badgers come to town), but even those games shouldn't be too difficult.

For basketball I agree tickets are not hard to get, but if you want to be in the lower bowl and get more than 1 or 2 tickets together then a donation to the RAF will be needed to purchase season tickets. After the donation tickets are like $26/game.

Do remember that UNLV plays a number of other sports - baseball, volleyball, soccer, etc - and their tickets are ridiculously affordable.

You could get an "all sports" pass that covers everything but that requires a large contribution.
