I heard from a friend that she knows lots of sixteen and seventeen year olds who just move out of their parents houses and live with their friends and everything in Vegas instead of waiting for eighteen, so is it true? What about fifteen?

that's either because their parents kick them out, or they get emancipated...

I left at 17 and found out the only thing my parents could do about it was go to the DMV and sign a paper cancelling my license. They didn't.

Legal age in Nevada is 18. Parents remain legally responsible for their children until the age of 18.

If a child "moves out" prior to that age, the parent could petition to have them declared "delinquent" and have them picked up

So it's not illegal for them to move out before eighteen?

It means your parents can have the cops pick you up and return you home. Why not finish school first?? Despite what you see on television, there isn't that much in Las Vegas for a 16 year old on his own to do. TV tends to glamorize and hype the place.

It is not just Las Vegas that teens move out. In most states you have to be 18 to be considered an adult. What actually happens is that most police forces are to overwhelmed with other more pressing incidents that they don't bother with hunting down a 16 or 17 year old who doesn't want to be found anyway. The thing that really stinks about it is that the parents are still responsible for their child unless they declare them a run away or delinquent. I realize that some teens do have it bad at home and need to get out but the vast majority just are rebelling and don't like to follow the rules of the house. My brother "ran away" when he was 15 because he had a 12am curfew and his friends didn't. The thing that really threw my parents for a loop was that one of his friends parents actually took him in.

I wouldn't recommend it. Although it's not enforced, it is technically illegal.

And Las Vegas has a really high rate of homeless teens who decided to leave home but ended up on the streets. My school did a documentary on it two years ago - the sheer numbers are stunning. Honestly, with the cost of living in this town, the chances of a teenager being able to live on his own successfully are slim to none.
