+1.

George, I thought your post was poignant & relevant because of the Concha y Toro reference. I've enjoyed much more expensive wine, but last trip to Chicago picked up a bottle of their Cabernet & took to my friends' place. He & his girlfriend could not stop talking about how great the wine was. (It was a surprisingly good wine.) Cost me $9 at Costco.

At the end of the day, what matters is what you enjoy.

We can argue 'til we're blue in the face. Personally, I like Chicago deep-dish; my best friend back in Chicago grew up in Manhattan & is a hard-core NY style thin-crust fan. Neither of us is changing the others' opinion. My fiancee thinks Pizza Hut is good pizza; I love her and everything, but ... What I *can* verify is that Las Vegas is sorely lacking in the realm of pizza; we have access to a lot of great cuisine partially thanks to the tourist traffic, but pizza comes up short. Costco pizza is one of the better types I've had since coming here & I certainly don't think Costco pizza is anything special. Metro Pizza's fairly decent as thin-crust pizza goes, but quality deep-dish pizza has been a lost cause for me. (I will try Settebello & the pizza at BJs based on the recommendations of others.) A couple casino people I know who are NY transplants have recommended NY Pizza & Pasta.

All this pizza talk will only serve to force me to pick up some Nancy's deep dish next trip to Chicago. Maybe a trip to Lou Malnati's or Bacino's as well. For those who haven't been, Pizzeria Uno & Pizzeria Due get a lot of press, but you're likely to enjoy several other options moreso if you get to Chicago. Nancy's (my fave), Lou Malnati's, Bacino's, Gino's East & My Pii will all likely be more enjoyable.

I said no further west. so that tells you what I think of 'deep dish.' Giordanos was decent in the 1980s if you like cheese and meat soup with a thick dough, now its just, well, ugh. Like I said - nothing west of Lodi - maybe Fair Lawn or Renatos in Ridgewood - but Renatos changed their sauce 10 years ago and its too sweet now.

I don't know if anyone has tried Marco's Pizza but they have an awesome thin crust (its very thin with a little crunch). They also have the "old world" style pepperoni that curls up when they are cooked! They also have a white cheezy type pizza that is very good.

I have tried to make my own pizza. It was almost inedible. I worked on it for months before giving up.

I think I know why...

You need FRESH ingredients...I'm sure after MONTHS they were getting pretty yucky!

I dont think there is worse food on the planet than Norwegian!

My uncle was the president of The Sons of Norway at one time, he was very into working Norwegian food into meals. All I can say is YUCK! Or maybe I should say Uff Da!

I second this. When we want to treat the family we get their Margherita pizza -- heaven in a box! Service isn't that great but we rarely dine in.
