I am upset about the big beautiful trees that were sawed down in front of the Bellagio. So unnecessary. They were suppose to relocate them, but then decided to just chop them down.. Very sad.

They have now built big steel cages on ghe bridges, they wouldn't do this if they were going to close them.

Good to know. So the film on the glass didn't work.

I have to wonder what the revenue give away - take away ratio for this event is? Vegas is chasing away a lot their normal business to try and bring in new business. And is F1 paying for all the setup for this?

They are trying to get Clark County to pay $40m for paving so far from covering all the costs. The LVCVA came up with alligator arms when it came time to pay even though the idea of this was to promote the city. Welcome to Las Vegas style corruption, done in the open but when it's done you look around and realize it just made money for a few private parties and the taxpayer foots the costs. Same nonsense will come from the A's stadium.

What's your take on how much money will be made by the casinos and related hospitality business from grand prix spectators, vs how much conventional (not convention) business was chased away by the grand prix chaos and overcharging?

Well 130K were in town last week for SEMA and there are about another dozen smaller conventions scheduled for the the next couple of weeks. The week before Thanksgiving is a dead period for Las Vegas and that is why the date was chosen.

Yes, F1 is paying for the setup. Venues and host cities usually pay F1 for the right to host a race ranging from Monaco at $15 million to Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar at $55 million. Here, F1 is investing $500 million to get the race up and running the first year. In future years, it will be much less as the major cost is building the permanent paddock.

They've said that they will replace them with potted trees once the race is over with, said MGM CEO.

"The Bellagio trees removed for the Las Vegas Formula 1 race will be replaced, MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle said during today's G2E conference."

I was going to make my first trip to Vietnam just for the Grand Prix in 2020. Don't know if they ever had it. Slim Asian chicks or fat inbreds from Wisconsin? I know which I prefer. Good for Vegas..at least there will be something on The Strip that isn't a rip-off. I can gamble on my TracFone, but can't say I've been to an F1 race.
