Electric Daisy Carnival..banned in certain Southern California locations, but successes in other locales. I like this kind of music, but I wouldn't be able to tolerate those crowds at all. 6 stages, 3 day event.

It is being billed as the largest event ever in Las Vegas (outside of New Years Eve)...and on the news apparently all our fire, medic and police forces are treating this event as if it were as big as New Year's Eve on the Strip.

Estimated 250,000 people attending at the Motor Speedway...

Keep away from 15 in both directions this weekend if you're not attending...

Hope everyone stays safe at this event and has a good time.

Was over my parent's house this weekend and in their pool. I was amazed at how cold the water had gotten because it rained for a few days straight -- and wasn't that cold.

So we were talking about Vegas (as usual, lol) and wondered: When this time of year hits, and it's practically a constant 100+ degrees for weeks at a time.. what's the tempeture like in your pools? Do you have anything to keep the water cool? Because to be honest, at 110 degrees.. 95 degree water doesn't really seem all that refreshing, LOL
It's surprising how cold 93 degree water feels when it's 110 outside. The first swim day of this season its was 95 deg and our water was 84...it felt ice cold when you first got in.

I seem to like the water to be 88-92 depending up on the temperature outside.

We have solar heating and use solar disks in the pool to keep it the right temperature. The water cools off pretty quick, especially if you have a cloudy, rainy, or windy day.

So those white fluffy things from the cottonwood tree's were the things making me sneeze. We thought they were bugs at first thinking michigan sure had a lot of bugs! lol
I was disappointed that we didn't see any rain, but the humidity was a little uncomfortable. It would be nice to go sometime when it's not so humid, and not winter yet. But we cannot control when someone passes on, so whenever that happens, off we go...(and go more into debt each time we have to charge it)
Fat as a toothpick. True, though!
It's funny you say it was humid. It was actually a good weekend. Now, today is stinkin' humid. It's 82ºF at 7:30 pm, with 66% humidity and the dewpoint is 70. Icky, sticky. There is a slight breeze to blow around the steam. (btw, I love Clarkston, Ortonville areas)

I won't even go in the pool unless it's in the 100s! I like my water at about 90 also. And strangely enough, it is very refreshing! I freeze when I get out! (how do you freeze when it is 103º? )

Interesting question, Kimba!!! Let me put on my Fred Nye, the Science Guy hat....

OK, so, our body's cooling system consists of using evaporation. Our sweat, a liquid, is produced through our skin, and as it absorbs energy from our body to evaporate, we feel "cooler".

When the humidity is high, the evaporation is hindered, hence the cooling effect is diminished and we feel "suffocated".
When your drink glass "sweats", that is similar to being in high humidity and not having the evaporation take effect.

In areas like Las Vegas, where the humidity levels are so low, and the air is so dry, the evaporation occurs almost instantaneously. So, when you step out of the 90 degree pool into 103 degree dry air, the quick evaporation makes you feel "cold"!

I'm not that smart, I just looked it up after our first visit to LV and I stepped out of the pool into 105 degrees and felt like I was freezing!!!

Hope you enjoyed our show today kids!!!!!!!

(I will be testing this idea on June 30th, YIPPEEE!!!)
