i personally don't like the smart car either, but its pretty safe.. there is a cage design... maybe you just bounce like a ping pong ball if you get hit

No, it is not. Your Insight is also a death trap if you get hit by a bigger vehicle. Those crash tests are based on crashing the car against the same car. Here is the smart car getting hit against the Mercedes C Class, which is the SMALLEST Mercedes:

The results speak for itself. According to the site you used, my 1991 Ford Escort even has an even higher 5 star crash rating then the 4 star rating your Insight has, but I would never be so ignorant to claim it is a safe car:

1991 Ford Escort Safety and Crash Tests - MSN Autos

Case in point, here is a slightly older Escort being hit by a full size pickup truck. It is instant death to say the least:

umm.. no they don't.. they hit a wall in the front and an impact machine to the side... i've been in the business for 18yrs... think i might have an edge on you..

also for the time period, your escort was good..except they only did front impacts...

what happened to the mustang you bought.... ?

UMM, yes they do:

"Weight Class - Statistics show that if two vehicles with the same NHTSA full frontal rating crash into each other head on, but one vehicle weighs twice as much as the other, the occupants of the lighter one (2000 lbs / 909 kgs) are eight times more likely to be killed than the occupants of the heavier vehicle (4000 lbs / 1818 kgs)."

Crashtest.com - vehicle size & weight matters

As far as the Mustang, I bailed out of it since my insurance was going to triple in price. It also got half the gas mileage and would have higher maintenance and repair costs. I think I made the right decision.

the nhtsa is the guideline... of course bigger beats smaller but the test of every car is not done this way....crashtest.com is not what the gov't goes by...

Who cares what the government goes by? Real life car injury insurance claims and deaths are always the highest in the small car class regardless of what the NHTSA (B.S.) rating is. The point is you claimed smart cars are safe which is absolutely ridiculous. Anyone with half a brain can look at it and tell it is not safe.

Here is my last response since you are so obviously wrong. Unless everyone else drives a Insight, Smart Car, or Ford Escort, they all deathtraps in the real world with all the big trucks, SUV's, etc out there:

"Model-to-model comparisons of frontal crash ratings are valid only within a vehicle class or between models of comparable weight (as long as they're within 250 pounds of each other). The test reflects how the vehicle would fare in a collision with another of the same model, not versus a larger or smaller vehicle (or a lower- or higher-riding vehicle)."

I cannot believe you would even post something like this. This is beyond inappropriate on so many levels.

Easy there, Johnny Drama...I'm just commenting on how similar they look in that pic, which is now being circulated all over the internet. In fact when I saw this pic...DavieJ89 was the first thing that came to thought. Relax...I'm not comparing their personalities or implying that Davie could even possibly commit such a horrible and crazy act. And just for the record....I think Davie looks nothing like this nutcase does today...
