Davie, you give up too soon. While your telemarketing job is tanking out, be out there applying for other jobs. Check out the one that mojave posted. Plus check the M. They are hiring last i heard. And Stations casinos are too.
With steady full time employment with a guaranteed paycheck coming in, you will feel better again.
Sometimes people have to take jobs they don't think they want, and they turn out to be the best job.

Back in my 20's, if I lost a job, I would feel bad, maybe mope around for a day or two, then get back out there and put in applications all over the place. The first place that wanted to hire me, I accepted. I didn't care what it was, it was a steady paycheck so I could pay my rent. It's all about survival.
If you really want to go back to Orlando, then go. Or stay and make the most of it. Good luck.

I feel so foolish for moving here. A lot of people told me I wouldn't last out here and they were right. I'm gonna get the "I told you so' party from everyone I know in Orlando but I'm ready to admit defeat and whatever slander and insultd go with it.

I've been in sales all my life. It's never steady income, you have ups and downs, sometimes nothing happens for weeks but you must ignore it. It will turn the other way, it's just a matter of numbers, the more times you try the more chances you will have to be successful. In the end it will average out if you are good at your job. Confidence it required at all times.

All the best Aqua!

What the heck? Did things go that bad in less than a week?

I don't blame anyone for giving up today. All that waste of gas, wear and tear on the car, the stress of driving, all the mind-numbing requests of employers, must pass drug test, clean driving record,no DUI's, need a car, need card for this or that, oofta a wiwi!

I've been scouting ads on Craigslist for my handyman/carpenter roommate the past two months and he's handicapped with not being fluent in English, DUI's on his record, no driver's license or car, how about that for a challenge!!!

Last nite, I emailed a number of those on Craigslist/General labor and what did I say to them? "Now I know where to get some good laughs at the end of the day, read the insane requirements and pay for some of these job offerings. Good luck!"

Any number of people today have transcended to the afterlife, lots of job openings there, but no pay? and kissed this poor-excuse-for-a-planet good-bye!

Yeah, after a while that type of job starts to wear on you. In college I worked for a political research firm and we would call registered voters. Some of the surveys were long and if someone hung up on us it did not count at all and we would have to throw it out. That was frustrating. We also had a graduated pay scale...if you completed more surveys you made more.

I actually enjoyed the job, it was interesting to hear what people thought. But sometimes it sure was a drag when you would call all day like that. Or...especially when you would get a rude response or someone who was just messing with you and wasting your time.

If I was in your situation I would go to work, crank out the hours while looking diligently for another job- like you said it's money and that will pay the bills.

If you are good with sales, you would do really well in marketing. Think about it! Get your degree and you can do something creative instead of these dreary jobs. Sorry...I know you aren't into that I just really wish you would consider it. BTW I'm seriously considering getting my masters at UNLV.

Many older people have completely lost touch with the job market today and haven't a clue as to the myriad regulations/obstructions facing workers today.

Yes, Pink, back in my 20's, in Denver, I merely applied for my first CNA job at a nursing home. Bingo! Hired the same day, and, no experience needed.

Today? OMG, go look in the medical section for a CNA today, and smell the coffee! One ad: don't bother to show up to apply unless you have a current TB test, drug test, a current CPR card, fingerprint card, your DMV driving record (all of which comes out of your pocketbook) 1-2 years experience, and, and, and! Back in the early 70's I was still smoking pot, if they had required even that back then, I never would have gotten the job. Next obstruction, it's coming: a test to find out if you're a smoker, knocking more people out of the workforce!

And looking for a job for my roommate, OMG! Clean driving record, no DUI's, reliable transportation, background search, drug test, and, and, and!

I'm stunned that they can even fill half these jobs today, and given the pay!

A good friend of mine, from back in Denver, with two college degrees, voluntarily joined the homeless force in the mid 80's, and has never looked back! And, has found happiness to boot! Screw the workforce, she says!

I'm supportive of anyone today that comes to that junction: I give up!

Don't forget you must also have good credit to get a job in today's world.

At one time you were happy to work for less. SO, I believe there is more than meets the eye here.

GF issues, maybe?

Davie, maybe you should move back to FL just to get the perspective between the two places since living in them both. You will know then. The west will either be in your blood or not. I think you are kind of homesick and when things look a bit grim here, that is the first thing you think to do. If the option didn't exist, would you choose to go there, knowing what you know now? Think about it.

If you wouldn't then keep looking. And check out the job that mojave posted. Can't hurt! Another year and I will be sending my son to jobs like that!!!! Hang in there and don't get so dark and grim when you hit a bump in the road. Find a way to get over it, you will need that experience all throughout your life!!!!

More or less, it was greed. When Davie started getting large contracts at the very beginning of his new job, he planned for it to continue week to week without looking at the big picture. I have worked many commission jobs myself so I can relate to it.
