Davey, my love, calm down. No one's hard earned tax dollars are paying for the re-naming of the 215 frontage roads.

It's to honor Las Vegans who have an impact on the city and are synonomous with Las Vegas...now c'mon...the frontage road at Durango/215 was re-named ROY HORN WAY

Your NY is showing, most everybody here in Las Vegas knows who that is!

It's the ROY in Siegfried and Roy? They had shows here in town for like 30 years? Or perhaps you remember the tiger attack in 2003 that made headlines?

Momx2, dear, I know who Roy Horn is.. (doesn't everyone, even in NY?) I've only seen the tigers half a dozen times...Jeez, I'm not that naive.. hence why I said "I don't know who half these people are". I was referring to some of the other names.. which I have now realized who/what their influence was (thank you wikipedia). All except one.. and I can't remember the name at the moment.

I was just curious as to how and when this came about? I didn't realize that was going to cause my "NY to show"

*sigh*

Well, you asked who these people were, you didn't specify which names were unfamiliar to you

No harm taken, Mom... you know I still love you!

Thanks for the link... it was actually Brent Thurman that I had no idea about.. My local friends told me about Jerry Tarkanian last night.. (sorry, was never a big sports fan, whattyagonnado?)

I found the bit about Raphael Rivera interesting... never would've known that little bit of info.. go figure!

Default The official Las Vegas Chat Thread

What are some common scams to avoid in Vegas? It looks like the latest scam is these people charging to do "loan modifications." I've seen a lot of ads on craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums, and it looks very shady. Nothing like taking money from people, who are already down on their luck.

That one is up and running. Not a Las Vegas scam however. Virtually everywhere.

OK, you're right, bring LOTS of money

How's that?

Now for the scam warning from the OP...I've been seeing those ads pop up all over as well, but I also saw lots of advertising for this in SoCali recently, so it's not only here in Las Vegas.

I would never look on Craigslist for any loan mod folk anyways, even if I had a loan that needed modifying...
