As expected, yet another company deciding not to hold their annual conference here. Just another reason why Las Vegas should've and still should diversify it's industries so that it isn't reliant on just tourism which's fine only in good economic times. People have said Las Vegas is recession proof. I wonder if those people still believe that.

Big companies (especially those being bailed out) at Las Vegas do not make for good press these days. Another blow to LV, due to the economy, and a tarnish to LV's shine.

It would be very interesting to see if it is true whether or not Goldman had to pay a $600,000 forfeiture fee to get out of the contract. If that's true, can't see how paying that and then moving it to S.F. is cost effective ?

...and that of our children, grand-children and great grand-children, by the time the interest collects on it! All these $750B, $1T, $850B figures being thrown around...and then mentioning that we'll have more take-home pay starting in June??? Where does this money come from, other than being borrowed from our future generations!

The extravagance of Las Vegas and companies coming here for a meeting on taxpayers money just don't gel nowadays and it's bad press.

Wells Fargo cancelled it's Las Vegas junket for the same reason.

How is San Francisco really cheaper than Vegas is right now? Why do they have to go *anywhere* for a conference if that's the issue?

It has to be an image thing...

I would have little trouble if the event was cancelled. I would however have a lot if it was simply moved this close in. That costs a fortune in a mess of ways. Airline fares for instance.

I would suggest that the good Senator Reid take a look. Perhaps if not in Las Vegas it would be better cancelled.
