brookwood is just a crappy garden apartment complex, the strathmore condo(most of them are rented to section 8) complex is down Smith road, closer to Longwood road. That is the spot to stay away from. Ridge is quite large & the rest of it is fine.

We just sold our house in Ridge. It took a year & a half and we had to lower the price by $100,000. Nice house in nicer neighborhood off Randall Road.I lived there for 11 years. While I don't have children alot of people who looked at my home loved the house but had a problem with Longwood school district. Neighbors kids all did well in this school district. Depends on the kid & the parents. The only thing I will say negative is I did notice the surrounding area going down hill & it was getting alittle too close to home. For example it seems there are more & more people walking around with shopping carts on 25 picking up cans etc. One guy we knicknamed "The Cowboy" actually stands next to the drive thru window at McDonalds waiting for change to fall. I have noticed alot more mentally unstable people as well walking up & down 25. Used to only be in coram but it is now moving up toward Ridge. As far as Strathmore stay far away! It is a scarey place.Stay away from Lake Panamoka also.

hey there delaware, glad you sold your house your price must have been grossly inflated or your house was a dump if it took a year & a drop of 100k. You are right stay away from lake panamoka, you'll find the cleanest lake on Long Island, cute bungelows & some newer homes & dirt bags like me

No offense Kelly, but to be fair to the earlier poster Longwood is a rather lackluster school district. Though the price drop would indicate they were shooting for the moon early on. And I thought that Lake Ronkonkoma was the cleanest lake on Long Island???

Good point, I have seen her passionate posts...and I said rather lackluster...not lousy (I of course meant "lousy"). I am certainly making it hard for me to show my face east of Stony Brook at this point based on my board posts...
