There was a "French" restaurant in West Hempstead in a house many years ago. It didn't last. La Coquille is more French inspired than French and they even say that on the linked website. According to that website, they are moving away from that even further. I think it's very rare to find any type of authentic French restaurant in the NY area, since you can't get French perishable ingredients and the courses are all wrong. You can buy French cheese, but not milk or cream or eggs. You have to go to France. Le District seems to be the best bet.
Other cities seem to have at least one Ethiopian restaurant. Are there any on Long Island?
I kept saying Turkish simit is far better than any NY bagels. You should have the chance to experience a real Turkish breakfast with simit, peynir, borek, etc. without flying to Istanbul. (Which I've done twice.)
Other than that, Russian and Eastern European food. It's an underrated cuisine, and I used to visit Brooklyn for those vittles.
There's a good Turkish place in Massapequa. I don't know how 'authentic' it is but the food is good.
Straight up Spanish. If I lived closer to NNJ, I would be one happy camper. I am tired of people recommending places which are more Latin American than Spanish.
Yeh, I am confounded as to why NNJ has Spanish, but LI, and apparently Westchester have none. I have only ever met one spaniard growing up in NNJ.

There is another Turkish place on Herricks and Hillside Ave called Opa Grille.
OK, tough guy, your way or the highway? I can't have an opinion? Please tell me when you went to these restaurants last and name them.
By the way, the Phil's in Massapequa. There isn't a restaurant that comes close to that in this area. (And that place is a fancy pizzeria). If so please name. I've been to them all in this area. Overpriced, mediocre food and service. I know what I'm getting in Miller's and the bartenders and staff are great.
If your saying Phil's in Massapequa then that is a low bar. Huge portions but the food is OK at best. Maybe I'm missing your point.
Needs more of my grandmother's home cooking. Food tourism is a joke for lame people with nothing better to do on a Friday night than virtue signal their cultural bona fides.
I too wish people open more homestyle cooking places.

I think someone prior mentioned Hawaiian style lunch plates.
Yes, I love those. There is an explosion of Poke in NYC, and there is one on Old Country Rd west of the mall. I wonder if they have some lunch plate style foods
If I had the money, I bring Uno Hawaiian to the east coast
British food. hahah! Has anyone tried one of those cheap places where you go up to the counter and order your eggs, rasher of bacon, cold toast and cream tea? Then they bring it out. Cheap English diners are actually kind of fun and I dined at lots of them in England.
LI needs a place for dead man's leg, bubble and squeak and toad in the hole. Pour the milk into the cup before the tea, or else you could be arrested.
