Sometimes I read this forum to be reminded of why I got out of there. The average taxpayer has no control and can't fix it. Just Leave.
$300K? It must be worth it, after all crime is low on LI from what I hear

I know this pains you considering much of NYC is a cesspool and now getting worse:

“The A+ grade means the rate of crime is much lower than the average US county. Suffolk County is in the 99th percentile for safety, meaning 1% of counties are safer and 99% of counties are more dangerous. This analysis applies to Suffolk County's proper boundaries only. See the table on nearby places below for nearby counties.
The rate of crime in Suffolk County is 11.88 per 1,000 residents during a standard year. People who live in Suffolk County generally consider the northwest part of the county to be the safest.
Your chance of being a victim of crime in Suffolk County may be as high as 1 in 52 in the northeast neighborhoods, or as low as 1 in 155 in the northwest part of the county.”

I don't care about the crime rate in NYC, believe it or not. I have more important things to worry about. If I concerned myself with the crime rate I would never leave the house. I probably take more late night walks (after midnight) in my neighborhood, than you do in yours. It's all a matter of perspective. Stats mean nothing if you're on the negative side of the statistic. Did they catch the bull yet? Now that would concern me if one was loose in my neighborhood.

The bottom line is you are FAR more likely to be on the negative side of a statistic then I am. That a fact. After all it’s all a matter of “perspective” right? Lol

Sometimes numbers don't always tell the whole story, but sure, we'll take that answer
