Exactly. I've found that once someone defends an area that people LOVE to bash (mastic/MB/Shirley) it quiets down. Notice no response?? And that was a pretty enlightened statement from someone who lives in such a "trashy" area. Not that I've been there but I've heard.
Nothing crooks, just the people who have somehow survived the Wm. Floyd SD and lived in the Tri-hamlet area chatting about it. Back to sleep. Poppies...poppies will make it sleep.

Why wouldnt you survive?
It may be challenging but there are some bright spots.
Its not West Virginia for Christ sakes. Poor people in Mastic have dental.
Your football program is friggin' AWESOME... you just need some better PR for Wm Floyd schools.
I like Shirley off of Longview quite a bit but my wife balked on the schools.
All you need to do is to get one unified voice from the 47 different warring civic associations own there and start screaming loudly for some help from your elected officials.

Thanks! People always have something to say about a place that they "heard" about but have never actually lived. I have been here for awhile now and am finding that it isn't much different from other places I have lived.
People showed some pictures of mastic with a street sign for a basketball backboard... I still haven't seen it on the road around here. Someone posted pictures of a road badly in need of repaving...but honestly I have seen the same poor road qualities in Huntington bay and Lloyd harbor. Yeah there's no Starbucks... It kind of reminds me of upstate NY a little. Rustic if you will. There are parts of the Hamptons that are no different, But it's all about the zip code.
OK so listen hear ive lived in mastic shirley my entire life and yea it may not be the best town but there are towns so much worse and until you come live here and go to our schools and stores and public places you need to keep your mouth shut because this town is full of loving caring and such kind people but as well as other towns its full of some not so nice people. Im proud to say I live in mastic shirley. And anyone who has something to say e-mail me.

Out of all the areas you list, I would suggest Bellport (south) or Patchogue (south), not North. Feel free to look at the other areas but anything that seems cheap is cheap for a reason. Its not a desireable area. Ive lived on the Island all my life. I fully aware of the areas.
I get a kick out of people who drive through Main St Patchogue and think, just because they spent million of dollars of state and federal money to "Revitalize" it's now a good place to live.
The neighborhood hasn't changed; still have 20 people living in an illegal rental right on the water.
