Sue G. If your out there contact me at my E-Mail address, I along with your old next door, and around the mountain neighbor Marylou would like to hear from you!... My address is on page 6 .... Gary Palmese. ... Do you remember any of the Sea Ranger Dances?
I remember my first boyfriend, Charlie from the battalion in Elmont. He was friends with Ralph, Pam's husband. I sometimes think of him and wonder how he is doing. (you know, you never completely forget your first "love")
Hey...don't forget the pledge...keeping yourself clean...in mind and body!
I was in Batallion 5 which was located at Wheeler Ave School in Valley Stream. The Girls were Batallion 13. I also became a Midshipman and went once a month to Dutch Broadway School in Elmont. This was the mid 70's. I can still do the rifle tricks!
I went to the camp. House and 3 Bunk Houses up the hill. Big Pond. Don't remember where it was.
I just found these posts by accident. I remember this organization well. I joined in 1968 as a "seaman recruit" and spent the next ten years rising through the ranks to its highest, Master Chief Petty Officer.
I was in Battalion 13 which met at the Covert Avenue School on Friday nights. THe girls battalion with us was Battalion 12. My entire family was in it at one point with my father as an officer. Our biggest rival was Battalion 5 out of Valley Stream. I actually beat them with a Rifle Drill Competition Team in 1977 which was tough to do as they won most of the events. Our Commander was a man named Henry Albrecht who lived up the block from the school across from Sewanhaka Field. Wow, does this bring back some memories.
