We have placed an offer on a house in Centereach. I am somehwat familiar with the area but just wanted to know if there was anything specific that would be an issue.

Traffic is everywhere so that should not be a big deal.
I have a 3rd grader and 6th grader and have been researching the schools. They seem to be rated good.

If you give a street name quite a few of us can give you much better insight.

West Wagon Lane is the street for which the house is located. From I can see it seems very well kept, seems to be a good blend of families with kids on the block and it seems quiet.

Thank you to everyone who has been replying !!!

Good luck!!!
My cousin lives north of 25, near Nichols in Centereach. She has a beautiful, newer home on a huge piece of property. She has two kids and is satisfied with the schools.
I agree the traffic is a pain but overall I think its an Ok place to live.

I don't know how much you are able to spend, but I would not buy there if I could avoid it. Growing up in a neighboring area, most of the adjacent school districts were considered superior, and Centereach and Selden were never highly regarded. I have friends who own there and send their kids to Catholic school.

The schools are "ok" by national standards, but below average for LI. Yeah, you can get a bigger house there than you can in, say, Sachem or Connetquot schools (considered middle of the road districts by LI standards, good by national standards) for the same money, but I'd take the smaller house, being that I have a 2 year old. Just my opinion.
