According to the state, there were 22 white students in 2006-7, 11 in 2007-8.
There are schools with a tuition of $54K, but they are not regular private schools: they are schools for children with special needs. Special schools for autism offering intensive ABA can run even more than this. It is possible to get the district to pay for these schools, but it's not easy, even after the recent Supreme Court decision that ruled that parents do not need to try the offered public option first to prove it is not appropriate.
I think there is way more to this story. And I am not convinced it was just about the student being white minority. Nothing about this story adds up.
Stop talking bad about my village and high school. If you are so passionate about Westbury. Do something about. Dont accuse people of being racist. Look at a population pryamid based on race in Westbury. The majority of white people in Westbury do not have school aged children. If they do, they are perpetuated the problem. If they sent them to the school and cared about it, things will improve. They are being racist by chosing to send their child else where.
Seems that this girl tried, unfortunately she wasn't accepted! Why??

I hope this story is not true, as residents of this community we need to stop pointing out problems and point more towards solutions. We need to take back our school district and fire the entire school board by voting for people to sit on the school board who are determine to make our schools great. Constance Clark Snead and her administrators should all be fired, there has not been any significant academic improvement under her leadership, enough is enough end of story.
