That's good to hear Bay Shore has been improving!
The rankings of schools I've seen all seemed to put Bay Shore in either a pretty good or average position..
As someone who lived in Huntington most of his life- I hope Bay Shore is not like Huntington Station (big difference between the two areas).. then I'd take it off my list.

I drove by the Brightwaters/Bay Shore area last weekend and there was a certain charm to the area which I liked- it's gorgeous.

There are parts of North Bay Shore that I'd say are just as crappy as Huntington Station's worst....maybe even worse aesthetically. On the other hand, Bay Shore itself has made a remarkable improvement in the last decade and Brightwaters is a great area. I don't think you would be close to anything questionable in any part of Brightwaters.

Aren't you the same guy who was ready to move into a home in Syosset last week, though? Bay Shore SD is average at best. No comparison....plus the commute on the LIRR will be considerably longer. I'm not saying it's a bad option (personally, I'd take it in a heartbeat over Syosset....even with the schools) - but I'd recommend figuring out what your priorities are before even bothering to look that hard.

Excellent point Sean Sean,

Im pretty sure North Bay Shore = Brentwood SD (and youre right its just as bad as Hutington Station).

Yea, for the most part, we've decided on Syosset. But we're not moving till January and I still feel a slight need to keep my options open.. my lovely soon-to-be-wife feels that the searching process is over though,
But everything seems to be coming back to Syosset for us in our search..
