Nice pics, thanks for sharing.

My wife works in a showroom in the Fashion District. We have seen downtown evolve (in a good way) the past ten years or so. I really appreciate the mix of historic buildings with great architecture, and the modern lofts/condos in the South Park area. LA Live is a little too corporate for me, but it has improved the nightlife.

Scared of the dark?

Look, Downtown is improving. Like most districts in LA, there are good blocks and bad. Most of South Park and the Financial District are just fine at night. It's not all like Skid Row.

Outside of Westlake, deep Skid Row, and some areas on the fringes of downtown, downtown's become very hopping at night. Even the hookers, the final element of downtown decay to persist into the era of a revitalized downtown, seem to largely be gone (or at least off the streets)

It's become to L.A. today what Westwood Village was in the '70s and '80s.

To address the opening question: People who have never been there or haven't clapped eyes on it in years.

Thats just about right. I moved to downtown early last month and couldn't be happier. The people who post negatively on downtown absolutely have no clue what they are talking about(or they are trolling).

I walk most anywhere and in general find it SAFER than where I lived in the SFV previously.

Put another way, at my SFV place, I would never go walking out after 10 or so at night. But Downtown, OTOH, I have no problem whatsoever stepping out at say 1am.

Your pictures really tell the story. LA has one of the most beautiful downtowns in the US. This has been the case for many years and it keeps getting better and better........ looking. There just aren't many people there, day or night, except Mexicans, many of whom are probably illegal. It has been said many times before but LA's true downtown is still Beverly Hills.
